From town to town, the plague did spread,
Leaving countless souls in its wake, dead,
A number that lingers in history's lore,
1348, a year of darkness and more.
But even in tragedy, there is hope,
Communities banded together to cope,
And though the number may bring a shiver,
It reminds us of the strength we have to deliver.
