Summary:

A web based filterable list of private servers. Server owners can add their server and respective realms and attach predefined labels to them which users can use as filters to find a server that best matches their criteria.

Not a toplist
This platform has no voting system and therefor should not be seen as a traditional toplist. It’s a platform to connect players to servers that meet their needs.

Searchable through predefined labels
Labels will be used as filters to allow users to easily find the server that matches their criteria best. Labels should therefor be predefined to prevent to much overlap. Through a suggestion on the forums you can request additional labels if you feel one is missing.

Possible labels:
  • Game (WoW, L2, ???)
  • Language
  • Region
  • Concept: Fun, Blizzlike, Progressive, high/mid/low rate
  • Type: PVP, PVE, RP
  • Rates: exp, drops etc.
  • Custom content: teleporter, Shopping mall, City Capture, Custom areas, events
  • Avg. Online Players (0-50, 51-100, 101-300, 301-500, 501-1000, 1000+)
Organization and World
Server owners will be required to create an overarching 'Organization' under which they can add individual playable realms/worlds they offer. For instance, an Organization like "Warmane" may include worlds such as Onyxia, Lordaeron, and Icecrown.

Average Online Players
Initially, the average online players' statistic will be self-reported. However, if the platform proves to be valuable and widely used, the possibility of implementing an API to verify player statistics can be explored, adding an extra layer of accuracy and reliability. Verified player stats should be visually distinctive from self reported numbers.

Quarterly verification
To keep the platform current and relevant, server owners will be required to verify and update their listings quarterly. If an update is not performed, the system will automatically unlist the server until the owner performs the necessary actions.

Report functionality
Users can report inaccuracies in server details, promoting a community-driven approach to data accuracy. If the platform proves to be valuable and widely used; consider a notification system for server owners to update their information in case of repeated reports.

Concept of the search page:

Concept of Details Page:
Haven't had the time to make one, use your imagination for now.

Monetization
Introduce a premium subscription tier tailored for server owners, unlocking a suite of advanced features to elevate the promotion of their servers.

Detailed Server Description:
Premium subscribers can now craft a thorough and extensive description of their server on the Details Page. This enhancement enables a comprehensive showcase of their server's unique features, lore etc.

Expanded Social Links:
Premium subscribers not only have the privilege of linking their official website on the Details Page but can also showcase their presence across various social platforms, including YouTube, Discord, Twitter, and more.

Multimedia Showcase:
Premium subscribers have the exclusive ability to enhance their server's presentation on the Details Page by incorporating captivating images and videos. This multimedia showcase offers a visually appealing glimpse into the server's gameplay, events, and distinct features, making it more enticing for potential players.

Expanding functionality in the future

Some quick notes on features which could be added down the road;

- Functionality to verify average online player count through an API. Update these weekly.
- Use weekly stats to show a avg. online player graph (premium feature?)
- Verified Reviews with amount played like Steam has. See post for some more details.
- Notification system for reported servers
- Let staff proactively add servers to the list and allow owners to claim it like google does with Business Profiles. Unclaimed servers will need to be visually distinctive since they aren't quarterly updated.

Wow. So it is more like a private server archive like https://www.dkpminus.com/ - So not like a voting script that sort of?

I mean it over all looks good and I'll ask my dev how much it would cost to develop such an addon.

- Approved, I like this.

-> Maybe we can extend it to behave like a voting script in the future. Including to have an API for the vote call backs for the WoW CMS's out there.

Glad you like it :)
The overarching idea is to have Emudevs be the one stop shop for everything emulation and private server.

Yes, I guess you could say exactly like that. I wasn't aware of that site. Although I would suggest adding more filters and have all game versions in one list instead of having a list for each xpac. I would also suggest a different way of monetization. I'm not a fan of showing 'promoted' where avg. population should be shown. Whether an owner has a paid listing should make no difference other than adding more tools for users to find you.

I also want to stress that this platform should be quality over quantity. Hence the quarterly update requirement. It sucks if you think you found the perfect server only to discover it's been dead for over a year.

You could do that, but the idea is to recommend servers based on their features instead of popularity. Perhaps a review system? But you'd need a way to verify the review is written by someone who has played the server and preferably the amount of hours like Steam does. I'm sure it possible through a CMS plugin and API, but is probably a lot of work and something to be considered down the road.

I'm not gonna lie but this is actually pretty cool. If you could implement this into emudevs on a separate page and integrate something similar to steam then it would push emudevs even higher.

Another idea;

Staff could proactively add servers to the list and allow owners to claim the server if they want.
Pretty much like Google does with business profiles. Anyone can add a business and the owner can claim it at any time.

Added this and some other ideas the the original post.

I love this idea @PhenomGW That could be so cool to have, and then to have the Emudevs.gg name on it as the only community in the scene that has something like that, damn!

I must admit, @Evil , that it being a client was the best idea I had ever heard.
