Nothing right now I can suggest, but upcoming (hopefully in the close future) there's:

  • Dune: Awakening
  • ()

  • Blue Protocol
  • ()

  • Path of Exile 2
  • ()

  • Once Human
  • ()

You could try Fallout 76 if you're into that. It's an okay experience now. MMOs have most definitely fallen off from the world in the past X years. They start being HYPE, good, awesome, but end up with no end-game content and years of waiting for more things to do with bad decision making.

So i played a bit of Throne and Liberty when it came out, unfortunately its not what i hoped it would be, its just another run of the mill cashgrab.

I remember when Lineage 2 was at its height what drove the game was new content. If instead of microtransactions, timegates, timewasters and thing like thats they focused instead on adding new areas, new items, new gameplay mechanics that are fun to use, new bosses, overhauling gameplay etc. they would not have killed the genre and these games.

To put it in different words if the new content they added was not driven by making more money they would have had game(s) that are still being played by a lot of people new and returning.

The private server scenes suffers from similar problems, if people just werent into it for getting donation money things might have been differnt but i guess when the official servers are so monetarily driven it offshoots into other aspects of the game and adjacent communities.

Lineage 2 gradually turned into a cookie clicker with extra steps. You go to spot A, press the autofarm button, then move to spot B and do the same, over and over again. Meanwhile, you have to micromanage your character’s stats using the countless random items you collect (all of them giving stats), and having to click on a billion different buttons across all the 100+ windows that are in the game. Occasionally, there’s a PvP event, but that's about it. There's a reason why 'old school' private servers still exist, would be nice to see something of quality from NCSoft again though
