Official New Posting Etiquette Rule

Hello WoWEmu,

I've noticed an increase in what I consider to be low-quality posting and therefore will be introducing a new rule for posting etiquette.

We(Eldamar and myself) are dedicated to fostering an engaging and enlightening environment where every voice and opinion matters. To ensure the quality of discussions remains high and benefits all, we are introducing a new rule regarding posting etiquette.

Rule: Thread Contribution Etiquette

1. Short Responses: Members are kindly advised to refrain from posting brief or one-word responses that do not contribute to the main discussion or support the thread's topic. For instance, posts that only say "lol", "thanks", "agreed", or similar, without any additional context or insight, are discouraged.
2. Consequences:
   • First-time: Members who inadvertently make such posts will be given a gentle reminder to elaborate their thoughts or refrain from non-contributory posts.
   • Repeated Offenses: Continuous violations of this rule may result in warnings.
   • Further Violations: If non-compliance persists, the offending post may be deleted, and credits might be deducted from the user's account.

We understand that sometimes a short response feels appropriate. However, for the overall growth and vibrancy of our community, we encourage more detailed interactions that help deepen the discussions. It's about quality over quantity.

I'd appreciate any post you can get, as seeing how low the activity is in wow emulation in general.

Also, some posts dont deserve more then a xd

Whether activity is low or not, the purpose of this forum isn't to farm 2-5 character responses. I will be enforcing this new rule. If you have nothing more to contribute than "xd" or "lol", then perhaps the post isn't worthy of a response. Instead of pushing such posts to the top, we should focus on promoting higher-quality posts. Higher-quality posts are more likely to receive high-quality responses.

Does that coincide with the farm award threads? Instead of brute force moderation with this, why not add a post character limitation? But regardless, I kinda agree with this seeing there's a lot of farming going on.

Great question. I'll be honest, I have no intention of breaking up STAFF-endorsed threads of farming. However, I feel like they destroy the meaning of some awards. Perhaps they should be ended.

A character limitation is in the works. This rule will go into effect Sept 11, 2023 (This Monday).

Personally i dont have problem with answers like that as @Ayiko said himself we would benefit any type of activity at this point, it wont make community any smaller then it is at this time, it also doesn't make diffrence nor doesn't damage community in any way, by having any type of answers, we still have atleast something out of community, logging and seeing almost no posts in few days makes me kind of sad. So i'll rather see and "Thanks" better then nothing.

But i am just an user here, so i can give just my opinion. Atleast open then discord chat for communication, or some sort of chat where people can communicate.
I disagree with this idea. If community was overpopulated and if that was the case i could understand, as you should monitor each and single dumb post, but for now i feel like its overreacting. However it is as you wish ofcourse.

This was implemented yesterday, thanks for the suggestion.
