Attention all WoWEmu.org community members,

We would like to address two recent developments within the community that have caused concern among our members. Firstly, it has come to our attention that a well-known user on forum.emudevs.gg and a known user in the WoW emulation scene in general, Instadev, aka. Dandi, has been banned on WoWEmu for selling other people's work, specifically the anti-cheat from M'Dic (WoW Modding). We want to remind everyone that the unauthorized distribution of intellectual property is not tolerated within the community, and we will take the necessary steps to prevent such actions in the future. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to selling other people's work, and we will continue to enforce this policy to ensure the fairness and integrity of our community.

Secondly, we would like to address the recent demotion of Kerpackie from the community manager rank. This decision was made due to his failure to keep us up to date with the recent events regarding the incident with Dandi and M'Dic, as well as sharing and leaking internal staff chats to individuals outside of the staff team. However, sharing internal staff chats can be a violation of our privacy policies and reputation.

We understand that these developments may have caused concern among the community, but we want to assure everyone that we are taking the necessary steps to address these issues and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Additionally, we want to inform everyone that since Kerpackie has been demoted, the Community Manager rank is now unoccupied. We are currently open to accepting new staff members who are interested in filling this role. If you are passionate about WoW emulation and have experience in community management, we encourage you to apply. We are looking for individuals who are committed to upholding our values and policies and working towards creating a safe and fair environment for all members.

Thank you for your attention and understanding.

Sincerely,
WoWEmu.org Administration

This whole situation could have been avoided if there was transparency to begin with. Wasn't the purpose of WoWEmu to be transparent and community driven? Dismissing Kerpackie for going over and beyond to deliberate the truth is definitely a massive L on this one. I think you guys owe him a big apology and need to be more transparent on things going forward.

Well, I guess it's the other way around. Kerpackie should have told us what's going on, or at least me.
Nothing has been told to me, I literally saw the conversation about Dandi and MDic by coincidence on the WoWModding discord.

Two weeks of silence, from both. How should I know what's going on? How should I take action? Luckily I did see the conversation, therefore he was banned immediately.

Just for the records, Kerpackie and MDic went into private messages on March 7th, I acknowledged about this topic on March 19th, nearly 2 weeks of silence?
That's definitely not how a Staff Member or "Community Manager" should behave.

Whatsoever, speaking of transparency, this announcement was made exactly because of that reason.

Expanding on transparency, I honestly believe that chat receipts should be shown to back up this statement because I can't imagine Kerpackie not being vocal about it, not claiming you're lying but would rather see raw evidence than statements from a community driven board, also perhaps making the staff chat room read only for non staff members might be an idea to keep the auditing public as is on the forums?

For the records, I knew that I remembered that there were talks about this topic in the past, all the way back on the 1st, a week before Kerpackie went into private messages according to your post. That means there was a week before any action was even taken by any staff member because from what I can see it didn't come across as an important issue. This is also what I meant above with making the staff chat room available for members to view since it's the closest we can get to an audit log on discord, else I'm just left contemplating on what truly happened and whether or not this was an assassination on Kerpackie's character to cover up a messy situation.

I have no clue what has been going on in regards to Kerpackie so I'll refrain from commenting on that matter.

I do want to take the position as the devil's advocate for a moment and take to opposite stance regarding the read-only staff channel suggestion. Although I'm definitely pro-transparency, I do believe a staff team needs a safe place to discuss among themselves. Opening up the staff channel will probably lead to the creation of a new private channel or push the conversation to PMs.

Would love to hear your opinion on the matter.

the chat between Kerpackie and m'dic you can still find in wow model community but i would not attach it to this announcement as well. its drama on top of drama.
I personally do not know him but he shared some SS from staff chat that imo shouldnt have been shared. only his own msg was enough to prove his point. but he shared others chat as well.

I would also not open the staff chat to read only! there are some chats that are prefered to remain behind close doors, some works some progress etc. rather than that sometimes you need to track a person activity and report it to other staff member but you dont want to publish it first. there are alot of examples why staff chats should not be public.

but @splicho, I believe everyone deserve a second chance since we all learn and experience new situation. sometimes we dont know how to handle it. @Kerpackie done a great job on community and was moderating very well. I hope you reconsider this decision.

Locking this thread. Splicho is keeping the community up-to-date with certain rulings that went down between members and staff. If you have opinions let's keep it through OP's DM, please. No need for more drama.
