In continuation to a Discord chat we've had, I would like to provide my input (obviously, only a suggestion from my end) about the possible monetization aspect of the Resource Manager.
For starters, I would like to express how awesome it can be for us as creators. It has always been a nightmare selling stuff manually. Everyone who has done this at least once knows what I'm talking about - compatibility issues, wrong emulator, a FAQ to be rewritten (or copy-pasted from the edges of your drive), and generally a lot more time put into this transaction than it should take.

Implementing this will give us the benefit of automation, regular updates capability, pre-set FAQ, and generally a more secure platform. That alone is worth a fee WoWEmu can take out of every transaction (I'd say 10-20%, but again this is my input only). This fee, obviously, goes towards maintenance and for providing this facility for security & stability.

Who do I think should be eligible?
Everyone with a verified badge, just like the marketplace.

How's that different from the marketplace?
The marketplace is for 'services'. "Update my core", "implement a script for me", a custom request, and such. Resource Manager monetization should be for ready products only, and under the condition they will be maintained BY the creator.

The conditions to the marketplace - "the contract"
1. A creator must provide the tested core revision, and the selected emulator and have the ability to provide a screenshot or a video of the product in its end result (to avoid "false promises" or mismarketing)
2. The creator must maintain it to keep up with the selected emulator's changes over time. This should not be a set-and-forget template.
Important note: I think a reasonable timeframe of a week should be given to each creator once there's a compatibility issue reported, and of course verified by other users and/or a staff member.
3. Regular updates: I think a creator should not be forced to update a product he has no interest in maintaining, but it should also be maintained and noted (or completely removed from the Resource Manager) that it is no longer maintained.
4. Withdrawals: once a week or month, after the fee has been deducted from your total earnings, to be sent via any payment method you guys see fit to have. I personally would love to have it via PayPal, and I wouldn't mind paying the extra 3.5% PayPal fee for that (as in, don't guarantee Friends & Family transfers)
5. Must specify & include if this product has been created by you, updated by you, rewritten by you, or an attempt for you to steal someone else's work & monetize it. OBVIOUSLY, credit to the original creator (or inspiration) if that is needed.
6. "DLCs" / "Ecosystems" - creators should be allowed to sell an "ecosystem", and require one product to depend on another product. If possible, even add a bundle feature.
7. Leaks - I think leaks have room for monetization (again, my personal opinion). Leaks are illegal copies you got through whatever way you got it and should not promote leaks or illegal re-shares without permission from the original owner.

That being said since we will start talking about real money here if this is in fact getting implemented, we will need e lot of extra eyes to detect when a creator's work has been released for free over here. It is the sad truth we must embrace and a mindset we must set before continuing with this big leak ahead if it is to take any solid shape anytime in the future.

I have no input as to what should be the min/max prices, and I am not sure it should be touched at the moment. Maybe a hard-cap of $1,000 just so people won't go too crazy, and that too I believe is too much for a single product.

Just leaving a note that we are discussing this internally, and is something we will consider.

Discuss away boys, girls and helicopters!

Not only is this a great way to make wowemu self efficient to gear up for the long haul but to also encourage a competitive market on the paid side to essentially custom repacks and scripts. Naturally there are also going to be the free repacks that are members are willing to make and distribute. Now as for wowemu taking a cut of the profits, imo 10-15% is fair if this platform mentioned above would take effect since everything is hosted locally and processed locally.

Paypal, and you should (from my understanding) receive payout straight away.

Good, now will those funds be received by PayPal's goods and services or friends and family since it was already processed once by WE?

Highly doubt it, don't count on it
